I am a Licensed Title Agent and have the role of Quality Control at Marion Title and Escrow Company. In my Quality Control role, I am responsible for reviewing the details of all files at several critical steps in the closing process. I help ensure orders are entered accurately so the closing process starts off on the right foot. I help ensure that preliminary settlement statements are complete and accurate so clients can take comfort that the early numbers they receive from their Closing Agent are very close to what will be the final balances. I also review the closing documents prior to client signatures to ensure accuracy and complete signing packages. This makes it less likely that follow-up will be needed after clients have signed their closing documents and helps ensure the property is transferred from Seller to Buyer cleanly.
I am also a backup for Post-Closing. When things get busy, I step in to help keep the process moving, ensuring final executed documents and payments are transmitted within the timelines expected by the Company and our clients. As time allows, I work in other areas such as helping to manage the Company’s main email inbox – closings@mariontitlefl.com, updating and creating new sections for the office Training Manual, and miscellaneous other administrative projects.
I started with Marion Title and Escrow Company in August 2023. Prior to joining the Company, I was fortunate to learn valuable skills such as Processing, Post-Closing, and Order Entry with another title company. But as a resident of the nearby community of On Top of the World, Marion Title had the perfect location with what would be a short two-minute drive to the office. I began reaching out to the office manager regarding potential openings and was finally rewarded with an offer. Now my very short commute leaves plenty of time to enjoy life outside of the office while at the same time loving my work in the office.
Prior to “retiring” to Florida, I spent 38 years in a very different business. I was first a licensed Professional Geologist and managed the environmental remediation sector of a large multinational company and later took on the role of Vice President of Compliance and Ethics for another multinational company purchased by my original employer. These roles provided opportunities to work in a multitude of different countries including Russia, China, India, Thailand, Brazil, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Bahrain and most of the western European countries and taught me life skills that continue to provide direction and insight in my current role.
In 2019, my husband and I left the cold north of Michigan to enjoy the warm sunny climate of Central Florida. Knowing that I would never be satisfied with a life of easy retirement, I obtained my Real Estate Sales Agent license in 2019. I earned Rookie of the Year for achieving over $1 million in sales in my first year and was fast on my way to earning the Outstanding Achiever Award for achieving $3 million in sales in the next year before I moved my focus to the title industry. Working as a Real Estate Agent gave me valuable insight into the experiences of buyers, sellers, and real estate agents while working with title companies through their closings. But I soon realized that I enjoyed the close details of title work much more than showing homes, so I went back to class and obtained my Title Agent License in 2021, complementing my Notary Commission obtained the prior year. I continue to hold my license as a Real Estate Agent providing referrals for my past clients as well as new friends, but that work now takes a backseat to my work as a Licensed Title Agent. I am thankful and blessed for the many opportunities I have had and continue to have in my career. Those opportunities have provided knowledge and life skills that allow me to be the best I can be in my current role. While I do not normally work directly with outside clients, my work is invaluable to ensuring that their experience with us is as seamless and as stress free as possible. I thoroughly enjoy coming into the office each day and hope to continue this work for many years to come.
